In 2008, after practicing law for a combined 30+ years, my wife (Randy Simon) and I reinvented ourselves as grantwriters and launched Seattle Grantwriting in 2008. We now use our advocacy, writing and research skills to promote social change and benefit a wide spectrum of non-profits. Because we are new to grantwriting, we offer affordable rates. When you hire us, you get two grantwriters who work in tandem, reviewing each other’s work and combining the best of our talents to produce a strong and polished proposal. Communication is the first step in developing a strong proposal and we encourage an honest and open discussion of your strengths, weaknesses, past successes, and current challenges. After gaining a thorough understanding of your mission and programs, we emphasize in-depth prospect research, subscribing to the most detailed version of Foundation Directory Online. If you need a grant tracking system or calendar, we will create that for you. Our written product is clear, precise, factual, and readable. We will also draft or edit virtually any type of content that your non-profit may produce: letters of inquiry, proposals, annual reports, newsletter articles, brochures, etc. Your audience – people who read dozens of proposals at a time – will appreciate the extra effort that goes into telling a story that marshals the facts and rivets attention on how and why your program or organization responds to a critical need. Although relatively new to the field, we have developed proposals for general operating, new program, program expansion, and capital grants. We prefer to develop a collegial, long-term relationship with our clients; this is more economical in the long run because of the efficiencies that arise from working on a variety of different proposals. Please give us a call; we are happy to do an initial consultation free of charge.
