In the past 25 years I have raised more than $28 million in grants, achieving an average success rate of 85 percent. Funding areas include health care, medical research, higher education, K-12 education, and the arts. Serving as both staff foundation relations director and consulting grant writer, I have produced winning, highly competitive proposals for foundation, corporate, federal, state, and local government grant makers, as well as for individuals. Accomplishments include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Microsoft, the Ford Foundation, the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, the W.M. Keck Foundation, the Starr Foundation, The Seattle Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, The Foster Foundation, Safeco Insurance Foundation, Key Foundation, the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor, the State of Washington, the City of Bellevue, and many others. Funding includes capital construction, equipment, operating funds, program support, community partnerships, fellowships, and endowments. I am experienced in working with board members, top leadership, volunteers, development staff, and program staff. I play a multifaceted role in preparing major proposals, which entails helping define grant parameters, organizing timelines and coordinating key staff, preparing budgets, and producing the final document. My consulting services also encompass developing grants plans, identifying funders and strategies, writing letters of inquiry, preparing post-award reports, producing case statements and other development documents, and training staff.
