Special qualifications:

I have over 15 years non-profit and grant writing experience.  I conduct in-depth prospect research, work with clients on program and budget development, write persuasive and highly successful grant requests, and help manage relationships with funders. I work fast and efficiently. Highlights of my work include:

  • Federal grant writing experience (Health and Human Services, Department of Justice, U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)).  Also extensive experience submitting grant requests to state and municipal agencies.
  • Success with funders at the local, regional and national levels, with in-depth knowledge of foundation and corporate funders in Washington State and the San Francisco Bay Area. I have submitted successful proposals to national foundations such as the Kresge Foundation, Ford Foundation, Open Society Institute, Hearst Foundation, and the Wallace-Reader’s Digest Foundation.
  • Broad knowledge of program “nuts and bolts”. Because I understand the realities of how programs work once funding is received, I can help agencies plan programs and budgets that are both realistic and compelling. I work well with staff at all levels of an organization and also with board members.
  • A deep understanding of the full development process. My experience includes work with major donors, direct mail, volunteers, corporate sponsorships, government funding, foundations, and earned income. I can help your organization “fit” grant funding into your overall fund development process, keeping in mind long-term sustainability. I can also assist with overall fund development planning and with writing other promotional pieces, such as major donor letters, newsletters, and annual reports.
