Special qualifications:

From the time I was a child, myself and my family members have benefited from the work of several local nonprofit organizations such as YMCA, Big Sisters of King County, Boys and Girls Club, Children’s Hospital, etc. These experiences helped shape me into the person I am today and as an adult, I resolved to “pay it forward” by helping others. As a result, I have had the pleasure and the honor of spending the past 12 years working with many, many truly amazing people through a wide variety of nonprofit agencies, schools and school districts, and even some governmental agencies. I specialize in community collaborative child/youth development, education and health promoting programs and projects in the greater Puget Sound region of Washington primarily because I believe I can do my best work with organizations in which I strongly believe in their missions, goals and activities.

Since 1996, I have held an array of positions in the nonprofit field including direct services, volunteer recruitment/management, program management, grantwriting, program/organizational development, and board leadership work. I’ve also worked as a volunteer in many capacities with numerous local nonprofits and schools. At the behest of a colleague with whom I’d done some prior collaborative program development and grantwriting work, I began freelancing as an Organizational Development and Fundraising Consultant / Grantwriter in 2002. She became my first client.

My college training in the area of human services management and education coupled with my broad experience in the nonprofit arena has taught me how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of organizational systems and assist client organizations in becoming more attractive to potential funders and supporters. As fundraising becomes increasingly competitive, I can help your organization identify and improve potential areas of concern for current and future funders and develop a strategy to best utilize the unique assets and resources of your agency. I am happy to help plan new programs or make recommendations to improve existing ones. I can develop a prospect list of potential government, foundation and corporate grantmakers best suited for your specific agency and project and I can write highly competitive, quality grant requests.

If you have any questions about my services or would like further information and/or a list of references, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me. Our first telephone or in-person meeting (up to 2 hours) is on the house!
