Position Reports to: Workshop Facilitator

The PSGA Institute, sponsored by the Puget Sound Grantwriters Association in cooperation with the Nonprofit Assistance Center, will provide training in prospect research and grant proposal writing to community non-profit organizations through workshops and mentoring.

Job Summary: Works closely with Workshop Facilitator in the delivery of instruction on the fundamentals of grantwriting to classes of six to twelve participants. Observes and develops, through participation, basic facilitation (training) and grantwriting skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in full day program orientation in cultural competency and grantwriting curriculum.
  • With Workshop Facilitator delivers instruction during two hands-on participatory workshops of 5 hours each.
  • Provides suggestions and recommendations
  • Assists in the finalization of workshop curriculum in accordance with pre-determined course objectives and content outline.
  • Assists in the selection and preparation of workshop materials.
  • Prepares classroom with instructional materials, supplies, equipment and refreshments as needed.
  • Participates in evaluation of program to assess quality of instruction, student learning success, and goals and objectives for future workshops.
  • Maintains contact with Workshop Facilitator and Institute Coordinator. Performs other tasks as mutually agreed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

  • Affiliation or identification with one or more of the populations to be served by the Institute.
  • Strong interest in acquiring facilitation (training) and grantwriting skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Moderate to strong written and verbal skills.
  • Willingness and desire to continue learning and to share acquired skills within one or more of the population communities served by the Institute
  • Preferred: Experience in fundraising and/or grantwriting. Preferred: Experience in public speaking or teaching.
