Introduction to Grantwriting

Description:
If you're new to the field or need a refresher, this session is for you. Goodwin Deacon will discuss the essential elements of a successful grant, and give you an insight into how funders think. You'll learn how to write an effective Letter of Inquiry and how to expand an LOI into a full grant proposal.  At the end of the session, you'll know the basics of grantwriting and you'll learn where to go to develop your skills further. 

Presenter Bio: 
Goodwin Deacon, Ph.D., is the founder of the Puget Sound Grantwriters Association and continues to be active on its board.  She is the co-author with Ken Ristine of Grantsmanship for the GENIUS, published in 2016 by CharityChannel Press., She has worked in the grantwriting field for over 30 years. Her company, Deacon Consulting, provides grantwriting and prospect research services to many local nonprofits. She has taught grantwriting at Antioch University Seattle, the University of Washington Fundraising Management Certificate Program and Discover U.  Previously she worked on staff for organizations such as Seattle Opera, Seattle University, Children’s Hospital Foundation, and Edmonds Community College.
