Crafting a Powerful Need Statement:
An Interactive Session with Susan Howlett

When grantseekers craft excellent Need Statements, the rest of the proposals write themselves!  Find out how to compose powerful and compelling problem statements that shape all the sections of your grant proposal in this lively, interactive session.  You’ll leave with a checklist you can use again and again to strengthen all of your writing.  Bring material you’ve written in the past (or some guidelines you’re responding to) so you can make improvements in real time.

Susan Howlett, PSGA Board Member Emerita, is co-author of the most widely-used grantwriting book in the country -- Getting Funded: The Complete Guide to Writing Grant Proposals.  Lead faculty in UW’s year-long Fundraising Certificate program since 1990, Susan also served as a subject matter expert when the national certificate standards for grantwriters were developed.  She’s consulted with thousands of nonprofits across the country on governance and fundraising. She speaks weekly at regional and national conferences and is known for her liberal use of humor, stories, and chocolate.  www.susanhowlett.com
