Virtual Happy Hour

Striving for race and equity are hallmarks of non-profit organizations' missions, from direct service to the arts. The recent protests against the police brutality and systemic racism inherent to our system have forced many organizations to confront the underlying racist assumptions that privilege white voices.

Grantwriting and the broader world of philanthropy is no different. The funds grantwriters seek are products of a tax system that allows money to grow in the concentrated, often-inherited wealth of privileged families and major corporations. By law, these organizations must donate a percentage of their income to charitable causes, and grantwriters often help connect organizations to philanthropic funds.

In what ways are grantwriters complicit, personally and professionally, in perpetuating this system? How can you as a grantwriter seek to be a catalyst for change and begin that work?

Join PSGA Board Members Sydney Dratel and Brandon Lueken for a Zoom Happy Hour to unpack these concepts and discuss strategies for effecting change personally, within organizations, and as part of the broader profession

Online Meeting Logistics:

This web-event will be hosted on Zoom. A registration confirmation email will follow with instructions. For best results, use Zoom's free downloadable apps for smartphone or computer, paired with a reliable Internet connection. A telephone-only (dial-in) option also will be available.

PSGA recommends that all registrants set up and test Zoom in advance, and join the Zoom meeting at least 10 minutes before the official start time. We are sorry that we are unable to provide tech support.

Virtual Happy Hours are Member Only events, there is no registration fee for these events.
