Job Description

Nearly 28,000 caring professionals come together each day at UW Medicine with a singular mission: to improve the health of the public. UW Medicine encompasses a top-rated medical school, an internationally recognized research center and a renowned health system that includes Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center – Montlake, UW Medical Center – Northwest, Valley Medical Center, UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine and Airlift Northwest. In the 2021 fiscal year, UW Medicine Advancement raised $377 million in gifts and private grants (52 percent of the University of Washington’s total) from over 18,000 donors to support the mission of UW Medicine. The University of Washington completed a 10-year, multi-billion-dollar campaign in 2020, during which UW Medicine raised over $2.5 billion.

The UW Medicine Advancement team has an exciting opportunity for a major gifts fundraiser to work within the Corporate & Foundation Relations team. As a member of this team, the Associate Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations will work with the Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations and other Advancement leadership and staff, as well as with academic leaders and volunteers, to cultivate, solicit and steward organizations (foundations, corporations, associations and other types of organizations).

The Associate Director will secure gifts and grants from private organizations for clinical, translational and basic research as well as the educational and health systems at UW Medicine. The Associate Director serves as a strategist and resource for corporate and foundation fundraising and will manage a portfolio of primarily major gift/grant level prospects. Given the exceptional faculty at UW Medicine, this is an incredible opportunity to create meaningful partnerships and support with local, regional, national, and international organizations.

This position has a primary worksite at UW Medicine’s South Lake Union campus. A hybrid work arrangement may be available. Hybrid work means that remote work may be possible for a day or more per week, depending on business need, on an ongoing basis.

  • As needed, traveling to organization offices to represent UW Medicine for the purpose of cultivating new prospects, presenting proposals and stewarding existing relationships. Assisting with the planning of travel for Advancement and academic leaders as well as faculty members by helping to secure appointments and overseeing the preparation of briefing materials.
